After receiving his Bachelors Degree from the University of Missouri, Dr. George Lucas served in the field sales positions with American Hospital Supply Corporation and Pitney Bowes. He then returned to MU to complete his MBA, and his Ph.D. He first served on the graduate faculty of Texas A&M University. Here he had the opportunity to be a founding member of the now internationally recognized Center for Retailing Studies. In 1987, he joined the graduate faculty of the University of Memphis, where he taught and conducted research for over a decade. He is highly regarded as a speaker, trainer and expert in marketing strategy, negotiations, retailing, personal selling, and international marketing. George is frequently quoted in magazines, newspapers, and trade publications, is on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management and is featured on a popular nationally televised program on personal selling.
Lucas is the author of several leading business books, including, Retailing, Marketing Strategy and Plans, Marketing Strategy Text and Cases, and Marketing Strategy. In his training and consulting activities, he has impacted literally thousands of salespeople, buyers, marketing managers, and top executives, representing hundreds of firms, including Sedgwick, Royal/Sun Alliance Insurance, ITT Hartford, FedEx, Armor All/Clorox, National Commerce Bank Services, Procter and Gamble, International Paper, Green Tree Div. of Conseco and SouthTrust..
