Honoring Women's History Month: Join the Movement

By Leah Doyle

While we celebrate women year-round, we love that there is a month designated to reflect and honor the trailblazers of the past, the courageous women who continue to push boundaries, lead bravely, are bold innovators, and plot a new course for the future. Women’s History Month is the time when we commemorate women’s contributions to culture, science, history, and society.

What began as a weeklong grassroots campaign in 1978 in California, quickly evolved into a celebratory month! In 1980, President Jimmy Carter issued the first presidential proclamation declaring the week of March 8 as National Women’s History week (thank you, President Carter!), and it grew from there. But, leave it to Oprah to bring us a poignant illustration of the why, when, where, and current women of today!

The IWD 2021 campaign theme for International Women’s Day on March 8th is #ChooseToChallenge. It empowers all of us to be responsible for our own thoughts and actions.

“A challenged world is an alert world.”

From challenge comes change. We encourage everyone to join the movement and raise a hand in solidarity to call out inequality and strike the Choose To Challenge pose on March 8th. Post your pics on social and make sure to tag us!
