AV Needs

Travel and Lodging:

1. CLIENT is to supply all transportation costs. This includes all ground transportation, plus two (3) coach, round trip airline tickets. Be sure to discuss travel specifics (i.e. airlines, airports, cities, departure and arrival times) with Speak, Inc. before making reservations.

When round trip tickets are not an option due to routing from or to another engagement, attempts will be made to combine airfares and split costs between CLIENTS. Therefore, a flat travel fee may be charged to CLIENT rather than roundtrip fares.

2. The Passing Zone must be picked up from and delivered back to the airport, and to and from performance venue, unless other arrangements have been made.

A large vehicle such as a van, mini-van, sport utility vehicle, or station wagon must be used due to numerous travel cases and luggage. Limousine is fine as long as luggage can be put in the back seat area. Free hotel/airport shuttle is an acceptable alternative for ground transportation.

3. CLIENT is to provide accommodations: Three (3) hotel rooms non-smoking preferred).

4. Meals: A. Client pays per diem as arranged, or B.Dinner should be provided at CLIENT'S expense, either before or after the performance, as schedule permits and according to The Passing Zone's needs. A breakfast/brunch option is appreciated. In most cases, room service or hotel restaurant is ideal, billable to CLIENT.

Technical Requirements:
1. The Passing Zone uses fire and gas-powered chainsaws in their performances. Some venues require a fire marshal present, or at least notification to the fire marshal. It is the CLIENT's responsibility to acquire permission for the use of fire and gas powered engines, and to pay for fees incurred through acquiring that permission. In the event that fire and/or chainsaws are not allowed, Speak, Inc. must be notified in advance to make alternate arrangements for the performance. Some pieces will have to be eliminated from the show.

2. Due to airline restrictions, The Passing Zone can not bring with them, and therefore must be provided with, a one (1) gallon container of Coleman fuel (white gas, camping fuel). This can be found at K-Mart type stores, hardware stores, sporting goods stores, and is usually in a rectangular, red and silver one gallon can.

3. There should be a stage. The Passing Zone does not wish to perform on the floor unless absolutely necessary. The performing area should be a minimum of 12 feet by 20 feet.

4. Theatre style seating is preferred.

5. If cabaret style setting (with tables and chairs) tables should be set up directly in front of the stage with a minimum of space between tables.

6. The audience should be close to the stage. There should be less than 15 feet between the stage and the audience.

7. A dressing room must be provided, unless performance takes place in the hotel/building where The Passing Zone is staying.

8. Lighting must be direct lighting, or basic stage lighting, or spotlight (usually in conjunction with stage lights), or portable stage lighting, or a combination of the above. Overhead lighting (i.e. normal room lighting, fluorescent lights, etc.) is not acceptable.

9. The ceiling should be at least 15 feet above stage level in order for The Passing Zone to perform a full show. Please notify Speak, Inc. if height will be less than 15 feet so The Passing Zone can make necessary preparations. It is often better to adjust the show for a lower ceiling rather than perform on the floor at the same level of the audience, or to perform in an unusual location. Feel free to call and discuss location and height requirements if you have any questions.

10. The Passing Zone brings their own headset, wireless microphones and receivers (Shure UHF, with variable frequencies, with XLR or 1/4 inch plugs) that will need to be plugged into your sound system. (The Passing Zone does not travel with a sound board or speakers) Your system must have four (4) separate channels, one for each microphone, plus two for the mini disk player/computer that controls their music. Three (3) power outlets are needed to plug in receivers and disk player. A stand up microphone should be provided for someone to use while introducing The Passing Zone, possibly requiring a 5th channel.

11. If possible, there should be stage monitors (speakers so performers can hear their music on stage) on the front corners of the stage or off the sides of the stage, facing performers. (Note: Monitors are not necessary if The Passing Zone does not perform the Chainsaw Ballet.)

12. Please provide bottled water and two glasses for The Passing Zone to have on stage during performance.
