[Note to the introducer: Please read this intro in full. Its not as long as you might think, and its important to establish Mr. Farbers background so he can dive right into his speech.]
In considering our lineup for this meeting, we sought a keynote speaker who would be able to interpret for us the roots of leadership, to help us know what it is, how to inspire it and how we can all benefit from it in the years to come.
Now it is my great pleasure to introduce Steve Farber, who has raised the stakes of leadership to the extreme.
Early in his consulting career Steve saw that management fads would come and goterms like flavor of the month began sprouting up in almost every organizationbut the abiding characteristic of business success would be Extreme Leadershipthe kind that demands a deep and significant personal commitment. He has parlayed that knowledge into a highly successful career as an executive coach, speaker and author. His best-selling book, The Radical Leap: A Personal Lesson in Extreme Leadership received Fast Company magazines Readers Choice Award and was named one of the Ten Best Business Books of 2004. His second book, The Radical Edge was hailed as a playbook for harnessing the power of the human spirit.
Steve joined the search for excellence in 1994 when he served for 6 years as vice president of management guru Tom Peters Company. In 2000, he went on to form his own company, Extreme Leadership, Incorporated devoted to changing the world through the cultivation and development of Extreme Leaders in the business community. He is the co-founding director of the Center for Social Profit Leadership, and serves on the Board of Directors for the world-renown Up With People program.
Steve has taken his message of Extreme Leadership to a wide variety of private and public organizations in virtually every arena, from the tech sector to financial services, manufacturing, health care, hospitality, entertainment, retail, and even the US government.
We believe his approach to inspiring Extreme Leadership can help us be better leaders back at work and in shaping the future of our organization(s).
Part strategist, part social commentator, part comedian and all energy please welcome Steve Farber.
