Having just completed another extended run at the Mercury Theatre in Chicago, The Men and Their Music is the perfect reflection to the energy and enthusiasm of the legendary singers, songwriters, and music that has touched all our lives.
In 1998, Ron Hawking created, produced and starred in the smash hit show, "His Way" A Tribute to Frank Sinatra. In 1999 he went on to produce and star in the West Coast production of His Way at San Francisco`s Theatre On The Square. The show also played in Las Vegas, as well as other major cities, before returning to Chicago.
In 2002 Hawking opened the His Way Theatre inside studio A at Chicago`s NBC Tower and the show became one of Chicago`s longest running musicals. The "His Way" album, which Hawking also produced, received distribution and airplay not only in the United States, but on the United Kingdom`s BBC as well.
In September of 1998, Hawking wrote the music and lyrics for "Go Go Sammy Sosa" as a salute to the Chicago Cubs superstar. In addition to major media coverage and airplay on national radio and TV, the song made its Wrigley Field debut at the final home game of the cubs 1998 season.
Ron Hawking has performed at New York`s Carnegie Hall with the 40 piece Philly Pops Orchestra under the direction of pianist/conductor Peter Nero that celebrated singer Patti Page and her 50th Anniversary in show business. Ron has also opened for such notables as Carol Channing, Sheena Easton, Robert Klein, and The Temptations, just to name a few.
In addition to being an accomplished vocalist, he is also one of the country`s leading studio singers and voice-over actors. His voice has been heard on thousands of radio and TV broadcast commercials for such products as Kellogg`s Rice Crispies, Apple Jacks, Raisin Bran, United Air Lines, Budweiser, Mc Donalds, Kraft Foods, and many more. His voice has also been heard on CBS televisions Syskel & Ebert Show, ABC`s Happy Days Show, and in the move "Look Who`s Talking".
Hawking created and produced his "Lively Art of Impressionism" CD and show and has been performing this one-man show for corporate events and fund raisers since 1988.
In the fall of 2008 Ron finished filming the Universal Pictures movie "The Express," It`s the story of the first black NFL player to win the Heisman Trophy. Hawking portrays the part of the Syracuse University play-by-play booth announcer... "The Express" stars actor Dennis Quaid.
Ron Hawking has been a long-standing member of The American Federation of TV and Radio Artists-AFTRA, The Screen Actors Guild-SAG, and The Chicago Federation of Musicians.
