Len Dawson

Biography

Len Dawson was one of the most accurate passers in pro football history, ending his career with an astonishing 82.6 career passing rating. He quarterbacked the Kansas City Chiefs to three NFL championships. The high point of Len`s career was not playing in the very first Super Bowl, but rather playing in Super Bowl IV, when the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the heavily favored Minnesota Vikings 23-7. He was named the game`s Most Valuable Player. Dawson retired in 1976, after 19 years in professional football. He was honored for his achievements in 1987, with his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

During his last ten years in football, Len started his career in broadcasting as sports director for a local radio and television station. That career has now spanned over 30 years. In Kansas City, he is presently Sports Director for KMBC-TV and color analyst on Chiefs games for KCFX-Radio. Nationally, for over 20 years, Len has been co-host of HBO`s Inside the NFL, the longest running show in the history of cable television. In 1973, Len was named "Man Of The Year" - the NFL`s highest honor for community service. More recently, after winning a battle with prostate cancer, he has committed himself to alerting other men to the dangers of the disease and the importance of early detection.

Len is active in the community and focuses much of his energy on charity work. He has raised money for countless charitable organizations, especially those that help needy children.

Len is married and has two grown children. He and his family live in Kansas City.
