Though most people know him as the man who replaced Johnny Carson as host of NBC's "The Tonight Show" who went on to beat David Letterman in the highly-celebrated talk show rating wars, Jay Leno was and still is an extremely gifted stand-up comedian who has been performing for over twenty years. Since Leno became host of the Tonight Show, the program has received numerous Emmy Award nominations. Leno was named 'Best Political Humorist' by Washingtonian magazine, and a recent issue of TV Guide named him one of the "Best Loved Stars" in Hollywood. In addition, "The Tonight Show" was named 'Favorite Television Show in Europe,' where it is seen on NBC Super Channel in more than 32 countries. In October 1996 he released his book, Leading With My Chin, through Harper Collins which instantly became a best seller. His clean, middle-of-the-road appeal makes him a favorite with audiences from every demographic and led to his role as a top pitchman for such brands as Frito-Lay, Inc. He also headlined the launch of Microsoft's Windows 95 with Bill Gates. While his taping schedule limits his availability to perform for corporate groups, he frequently manages to accept offers for these, particularly on weekends and evenings in the vicinity of Burbank, CA where The Tonight Show is taped (ending at 5:30PM PST)
