Dan Thurmon

Biography

Dan Thurmon began his entrepreneurial career when he was eleven years old after learning to juggle at a Renaissance Festival. That one event uncovered a passion for engaging and inspiring audiences that has only grown over time. As an entertainer, Dan has appeared at thousands of events across the country and overseas. He has shared the stage with acts such as The Commodores, Dave Koz, The Neville Brothers, Bella Fleck, Frankie Avalon and Kool and the Gang. He has also appeared many times on national television, including The Late Show with David Letterman.

As he built his entertainment business, Dan was able to self-finance his education, travel the world, and learn what it takes to consistently deliver superior performances on and off the stage.

Dan is president of Motivation Works, Inc., an international speaking and entertainment firm. He teaches audiences how to manage the demands of their busy lives with increased focus and decisive action. His unique speaking style, Speaking with Visual ImpactTM, utilizes all of his skills, blending meaningful content with emotionally charged performances.

Dan is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Marketing. He has also studied business management, music, theater, acting, dance, gymnastics, and aviation. In 2003 Dan achieved the highest earned award of the National Speakers Association, receiving the elite designation of “Certified Speaking Professional.” He has delivered over a thousand presentations across America, Europe, and Asia for organizations including IBM, General Motors, Deloitte and Touche, The Coca Cola Company, and AT&T. Dan currently lives in the Atlanta area with his wife, Sheilia, and their children, Eddie and Maggie.

Off Balance On Purpose
Maintaining your balance in today's off-balance world is never ending challenge. That's why Dan tells you to give up trying to live your life "on balance," and start living Off Balance On Purpose.
This is the only way you will experience true happiness, accomplish meaningful goals, and lead a life which has lasting significance. The O.B.O.P. philosophy is based on three powerful principles:
1. You will never achieve perfect balance. You are in a constant state of being off balance, making adjustments in one area of life that affect other areas of your life.
2. Being "Off Balance" is the desired method of operation, as long as you are Off Balance On Purpose.
3. "On Purpose" has two very important meanings: First, your actions must be intentional and deliberate. This means taking responsibility for what you do and making conscious choices about how you will invest your precious resources of time, energy and money. Secondly "On Purpose" means that your decisions and actions are directly linked to your values, beliefs, mission, and goals. Instead of living a life of activity, you need to start building a "pattern of action" that comes from the very core of who you are.
You will understand that your life is not a series of separate pursuits, but a pattern containing five interrelated "spheres."  These are:

Accelerated Learning Workshop
During this hands-on workshop, you will learn to break through previous conceptions of your own abilities.  Everyone in the audience will practice, both mentally and physically, the process of learning at today's increased pace.  Taking the juggling analogy one step further, all the participants will learn to juggle while Dan teaches key concepts including:
