Biography

Avron Barr explains technology. His thought-provoking programs help business executives and information systems managers gain perspective and think strategically about using technology to compete. An expert on advanced software technology and its business impact, Mr. Barr has been a management consultant, a university researcher, a teacher, a marketing director for a software firm, and a founder of a Silicon Valley start-up company. He was the principal editor of the Handbook of Artificial Intelligence, a four-volume encyclopedia, twice chosen as a science book-of-the-month selection. He is currently Executive Director of the first major study of the worldwide software industry at Stanford University’s Computer Industry Project.
