Anders Sorman-Nilsson holds an Honours Degree in Law, a Bachelors Degree in Arts (International Studies), and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the Australian National University, where he studied on an international scholarship. He also holds a Specialization in the Law Governing International Relations from the University of Vienna, Austria. He is registered as a lawyer with the Supreme Court of NSW, but is proud to say that he has never practiced a single day in his life. He frequently gets asked by his friends to provide free legal advice, but out of heartfelt care declines on each occasion, and refers them instead to someone who actually placed in the top 50% of law graduates.
His father, Lars-Olof, is very proud that his son chose to abort a career in Banking and Finance Law to become a trend-spotting motivational speaker.
Luckily, Anders is an internationally sought-after keynote speaker and has spoken to audiences across Australia, Asia, and Europe, and his personal brand portfolio features both blue chip multinationals, fast-growing SMEs, start-ups and the odd Rugby club.
When he is not inspiring ideas and facilitating conversations at conferences, Anders fills the role of Creative Director at Thinque, a training and development consultancy that he founded in 2005 in Sydney. The company specializes in executive mentoring, psychometric testing, and effective communications, and works with organizations that seek to challenge the status quo and embrace a changing world.
Anders is the author of Thinque Funky: Upgrade Your Thinking (2009), Future Thinking: a trend-spotting report (2008) and the Gen Y 2.0 Limegreen Paper: from awareness to solutions (2007). He continuously updates his own thinking during trend spotting trips around the world and attendance at cutting-edge conferences like TEDGlobal where he is an active member.
Anders was born in Stockholm, Sweden, where he studied at a German School, before moving to Canberra, Australia at age 16. He now splits his time between his native Stockholm and Sydney, Australia. He is an accredited facilitator of the Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument, Genos Emotional Intelligence Instrument, the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, and is an NLP Trainer, which means that in addition to putting together fantastic breakout programs, he can also engage in self-analytic navel-gazing.
Thinque Funky
"The zeitgeist of our times has shifted. In fact, the spirit of our times is a little out of whack. We have recently elected a president whose very name rhymingly reminds us of the triple-whammy of Iraq-Hussein-Osama, we have gone from `2020 Vision` to tunnel vision in less than 18 months, and Iceland, the country with the world`s highest standard of living, is now bankrupt. The economy is in a flux, Generation Y commerce and law graduates are getting paid up to 20K for not going to work in 2009, and no longer do we talk excitedly about `negative gearing` at the neighborhood barbeque. Because of Moore`s Law, computer power doubles every 18-24 months, smashing old human thinking domains to smithereens. About the only constant in the world is that my cat, Finnegan, still thinks like a dog.
Unfortunately, change doesn`t care whether you like it. There is now a real sense - a vibe - that we are moving through a global paradigm shift in thinking. Find out how to stay future-compatible by ordering your signed copy of `Thinque Funky: Upgrade Your Thinking` now or continue reading to see what some great thinkers think of this manifesto."
